I had just gained admission into Olabisi Onabanjo University to study a course I had always desired to study after several attempts. In my first few weeks, I was travelling
back to Lagos for the weekend to ease off the stress of 'freshers' registrations and verifications for the first few weeks. Then on this particular weekend in May 2009, I decided to stay back in school to have a feel of what weekends looked like in Ago Iwoye Ogun state.
Then my phone rang on Saturday evening and I heard 'Seyi, come out to the balcony I am downstairs', lo and behold, my friend had brought their fellowship's keyboard to my house. He dropped it without my consent and said 'we start our service by 8:00 am and left without waiting to listen to any objection from me.
Then the next morning, I woke up early, went straight to the school where my friend's fellowship used as their fellowship centre. The keyboard was set up, I was 'jejeli' playing the keyboard when she walked in wearing a lilac coloured satin gown with a black pashmina. I didn't pay much attention to her though.
Then after the service, we were all welcomed as first timer to the fellowship, we all introduced ourselves one after the other. We were dismissed thereafter, then this young lady was going home. I don't know where the courage came from, then I walked up to her, reintroduced myself and she didn't do the usual IGG ( Initial gra gra) ladies do when a guy approaches them for the first time.
I offered to help her get to get to school next morning to help her write down her name for her heath registration because she was staying very far from the school which made getting to school a herculean task.
We met in school, the next morning, the way we clicked was unusual and very rapid, anyone who saw us would never believe we just met for the first time a day before. We met by chance but became friends by choice.
Funny enough, the day we met in that fellowship was our first and last time in that fellowship for both of us till we graduated, as we checked out the other different fellowships that we eventually attended all through our stay on campus.
Fast forward , we became friends since May 2009 in our first year in the university, she agreed to marry me in January 2015 during our service year after several unrelenting attempts and we are finally getting married in December 2017. To God Be The Glory #oluwabusayoseyi2017
